I had a couple of spikes hit 208F (98C) before the fans could cool the unit. There was at least a good 5 or 6 second lag from when the unit went from 140F to 198F to when the fans jumped from 1900 RPM to over 6k.
It was also rather frightening that while the CPU was nearing critical temps, the fans were rather lagging in spinning up to their maximum speed. This was rather odd that minor load on the CPU and rather moderate load on the GPU would cause temps to hit close to the boiling point.
